PDF Trap Engine (Revs up):

Version 10.5

PDF Trap Engine has matured quickly. First released in Version 10.3, it eliminated PDF-to-PostScript conversion and, in doing so, processed PDF natively. This provided the ability to process transparent effects within unflattened PDF. Version 10.4, which began shipping at the end of the second quarter, added the ability to process flattened PDF from Quark 7 and from other sources. The next step was to refine PDF Trap Engine in Version 10.5 with the following legacy features:

       RGB-to-CMYK conversion within PDF files
Varnish and bump plate creation in the Trap Editor
       Dieline support
       Object-based screening
       Support for composite grayscale

Save money by saving ink
How much did you spend on ink last year? With the INKdrop Option from Rampage, it’s possible to cut ink usage dramatically. Based on industry-standard ICC color profiles*, INKdrop pulls from all color elements (not just images) and shifts tonal depth to the black channel, where ink is less expensive. Because the option supports Device Link ICC profiles, pure colors, such as 100K or 50Y, remain intact to ensure color fidelity. Less ink can also mean:
•Faster drying time, enabling faster print speeds
•The option of using lighter stocks, allowing you to offer postage savings
•Better gray balance to speed makeready

Run to GRACol, SWOP, and other stardards
With INKdrop, you can use either a Device Link profile or standard ICC source and destination profiles to hit your desired print standards. It is also flexible with regard to simulating spot colors, allowing you to manually enter CMYK values or simulate from a Spot Color Library based on LAB values.

Last-minute flexibility
Third-party utilities create one file for proofing and another for plating. Text reflow and other RIP-twice issues can result. By contrast, INKdrop is seamlessly integrated with the Rampage workflow. It transforms from the unscreened raster data used for plating. Equally important, the ability to rotate prior to screening and to clip or pad for plate bend–without reRIPing–offers broad flexibility for press scheduling.
*A third-party color management system is required to create ICC profiles. INKdrop requires Rampage V10.4 and the Rampage ICC option.
